Frequently Asked Questions

  1. QUESTION:
I am looking for STUBBS BBQ Sauce?
Have you had it, and where can I find it?

    • ANSWER:
I love Stubbs spicy! I’ve found it at Walmart and Safeway. Walmart has the best price-if you call 2.89 for 8oz, a good price!

  2. QUESTION:
    Drumstick oven cooking help?
Ok so i got some chicken drumsticks and some Stubbs BBQ sauce. I heard cooking them at 350 degrees for 40 min, turning at 20 minutes, is a good way to cook them. but what about the sauce? How should i use the sauce while im cooking them??
    thanks!!

    • ANSWER:
There will almost certainly be a lot of sugar in the BBQ sauce, so it will carmelize a lot and turn fairly black if it’s heated that long. When BBQ sauce is grilled like this for most meats/dark poultry parts, the sauce is usually added only at the end (perhaps basted a few times) to prevent that. You can also heat the remaining sauce to pour on more at the end or dip.

These recipes do it all kinds of ways though, so you might want to check them out:

P.S. You may have to cook chicken legs a little longer if you use only 350 F (I use 375 for about 55 minutes for mine, skinless –turned at 30 min).

  3. QUESTION:
    Burger recipe ideas ?
I usually just add salt, pepper, mustard and sometimes a bit of stubbs bbq sauce on my burger patties that i pan fry or cook in the oven since we don’t have a grill. I’d like to know if there are any different recipes out there for me to try with my burgers?

    • ANSWER:
Very finely chopped onions, worcestershire sauce, crumbled up cork flakes, a beaten egg. Try different combos (note that those are for mixing into the raw meat, not for adding onto a finished burger!). Also, if you like spice you can add chopped peppers/chilies in to the meat.

For already cooked burgers you can add all kinds of things: cheese (try different types. even things like feta work really well, not just cheddar), tomatoes, peppers, onions, relish, mayo (garlic mayo too!), crunchy (roasted) onion, pickles, etc.
Just experiment. It’s hard to go wrong.

  4. QUESTION:
Do I have to use a dry rub?
I want to make beef ribs today and bought 2 bottles of Stubbs BBQ sauce as I am aiming for easy today. Do I have to do a dry rub too?

I was thinking use one bottle of sauce to start and cover with foil and turn my oven down all the way and let it go all day. It is raining outside so no smoking can be done. Just would like some pointers. Last time I tried to make ribs was 15 years ago and I set them on fire on the grill…

Also, if you suggest a dry rub can you give me a simple recipe for one good for beef ribs? Thanks.

    • ANSWER:
no you don’t need a dry rub. they will taste great just the way you are going to cook them. sounds good, wish i could have a bite.
